Even painting, in its way, tries to measure itself against aspects that continually evade us.”

“Io rappresento delle situazioni apparentemente normali in cui però un’aria misteriosa penetra e travolge ogni condizione di normalità.
Di conseguenza un uomo che fuma, o una donna sul letto, non sono più la rappresentazione di gesti o abitudini consuete ma diventano rappresentazioni enigmatiche, che tendono ad altro. Allora può accadere che il fondale non sia più soltanto il bar, la camera, la strada, ma il tempo, lo spazio, la morte.Anche la pittura, a modo suo tenta di misurarsi con ciò che continua a sfuggirgli”
