“I also find it hard to call them drawings, even though I have found no other way of defining them. However, they are, in fact, large images that are the equivalent of painted images, both in their expressive strength and inner tension. I have always found that there is a strong connection between drawings and painting. They are not two separate techniques in my work, so much so that in many of my paintings you can find charcoal and pencilled lines, both under and above the colour. I have always mixed the two. I believe that a painter is interested in the expression, and is less concerned about the technique he uses to obtain it. .”

“ Faccio anche fatica a chiamarli disegni anche se non ho trovato altro modo per connotarli, ma in effetti sono delle grandi immagini che equivalgono a delle immagini dipinte, e per forza espressiva e per tensione interna. In effetti ho sempre dichiarato che fra disegni e pittura trovo una grande connessione, non sono due momenti separati del mio fare tanto è vero che in tanti quadri vediamo segni di carbone, grafismi sotto e sopra il colore; ho sempre mischiato le due cose. Io credo che un pittore tenda alla espressione e si curi meno della tecnica attraverso la quale arriva alla espressione ”
